Mutual of Enumclaw works exclusively with local independent agents to offer insurance products for individuals, families, farms, and businesses. We currently operate in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Montana and Wyoming.


 

The Product Development Specialist reports to the Commercial/Farm Product Development Manager and is responsible for driving profit and growth across all commercial and farm lines. Key duties include collaborating with the product development manager and underwriting leadership to develop and execute strategies that improve profitability, growth, and the agent/member experience. The role focuses on identifying, developing, and managing commercial and farm products in response to regulatory, legal, market, and technological changes, and is expected to become a subject matter expert in policy forms and the document production system.

 

Location: The successful candidate will work remotely (excluding AK, CA, and NV), must be able to work during our core Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours, and must have high-speed internet (internet speed test required)

 

 

Hiring Range: $65,500 - $81,100

Salary Range: $65,500 - $95,500

Responsibilities

  • Contribute in the review, development, enhancement, and implementation of policy forms and policy form language, providing analysis and actionable recommendations as requested.
  • Assist in the development of associated interdepartmental training, internal and external communications, and marketing collateral in support of form and coverage product initiatives.
  • Conduct form and coverage related competitor research and analysis and generates related exhibits and reports.
  • Demonstrate awareness of each state’s regulatory environment, evolving legal and claim trends, competitor actions, technological and societal changes and provides related actionable recommendations.
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of non-policy forms including cancellation/nonrenewal notices, supplemental applications, coverage selection/rejection forms, certificates of insurance, audit forms, and policyholder notices and stuffers.
  • Become a subject matter expert for all commercial and farm lines of business and products with respect to policy forms and coverages.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively, and propose ‘out-of-box’ solutions.
  • Ability to translate analysis and work into business recommendations, coherent presentations and audience-specific communications.
  • Familiarity with industry rating bureau (e.g., ISO, AAIS) commercial/farm line of business policy forms.
  • Understanding of interrelationship between insurance program rates, rules, and forms.
  • Understanding of regulatory and legal review process necessary to support filings and product approval is a plus.
  • Understanding of compliance and/or underwriting practices, standards, and workflow is a plus.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of P&C experience in commercial and/or farm product development or management, or 2+ year in underwriting role which involved interaction with policy language.
  • Experience with creating and facilitating training with or within product/underwriting/sales.
  • All the following would be considered preferred and viewed favorably:
    • Graduate degree and/or related professional insurance designations.
    • Experience with managing products and interacting with regulatory environments in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, and Arizona.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, including video conferencing.
